About DAEJAYON
A university student-led environmental movement focused on action
DAEJAYON is an environmental organization led by university students. It promotes environmental protection and climate action through schools, campuses, local communities, and international cooperation.
Its main activities are organized under Green School, Green Campus, and Green World. Through environmental education, campus campaigns, and international action, DAEJAYON helps turn environmental awareness into practical everyday action.

History
Key milestones of DAEJAYON are summarized below.
2008
Beginning of Environmental Activities
- Started environmental activities with the Campus Environmental Guardians in June.
2009
Expansion of Campus Environmental Activities
- Held campus environmental seminars.
- Participated in the GEF movement launching ceremony.
- Held an environmental seminar with a Sookmyung Women’s University environmental club.
2010
Building Environmental Networks
- Held a wetland ecology visit around the DMZ for World Wetlands Day.
- Participated in the founding general meeting of the Gyeonggi Green Campus Council.
- Launched DAEJAYON environmental reporters.
- Approved as an NGO member at the 75th IUCN Council.
2012
Strengthening Green Campus and Education
- Held global environmental leadership training for university students.
- Signed a four-party MOU with Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Green Campus Council, and Green Korea United.
- Conducted Little DAEJAYON environmental classes at Daemyeong Middle School.
2013
Expansion of School and International Cooperation
- Signed a Green School agreement with Daewang Middle School.
- Held a Green Festival to help environmental refugees.
- Supported the 4th Gyeonggi Green Campus International Forum.
- Cooperated with the Australian Campuses Towards Sustainability.
2016
Awards and Campus Activities
- Received the Green Climate Award.
- Launched Little DAEJAYON environmental activists and environmental classes.
- Carried out KGCAUS community activities.
- Conducted campus activities with Nature+ at Shingu College.
2017
City and Global Environmental Activities
- Launched Little DAEJAYON environmental activists and classes.
- Received an Excellence Award from the Seoul Environmental Awards.
- Held the Green World Ambassador appointment ceremony organized by The Green Organisation.
2018
Overseas Campus Activities
- Held a Green Campus campaign at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
- Organized an eco-handkerchief campaign.
- Continued Little DAEJAYON environmental activities and classes.
- Carried out activities with Nature Plus at Shingu College.
